The building that houses the Mt. Calvary Family Resource Center was the parsonage of the church that owns the property – Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Until 2005, the building was rented out as low-income housing but it was decided the building could serve the community at large in another capacity. The food shelf began operations in May 2005 and in less than two years has become the largest food shelf in Dakota County. The After School Program was started in fall of 2006 with more outreach development occurring on an ongoing basis. The Resource Center partners with many local churches, scout troops, schools, civic organizations and members of the community to implement the programs. The organization is entirely volunteer run – there is no paid staff and moneys raised and donated are funneled back into the programs and services of the Resource Center with very little administrative overhead.
